Albanese confectionery

In retrospect, the early s might not have been the best of times to start a new business, Scott Albanese said. Albanese, CEO and owner of the Albanese Confectionery Group, opened his first candy store in Merrillville in , a poor year economically and one marked by a national unemployment rate of 10 percent and a regional unemployment rate of 16 percent. Albanese and his family still operate the original small candy outlet store in Merrillville, across from the Lake County Public Library, and in opened the Albanese candy factory and outlet store in Hobart. Albanese said looking back, the reason he and his family have succeeded is because they stayed with the same formula for success. We kept the same basic principles, and for us the formula that was successful was that we kept our food quality high and prices as low as we could.

I have seen a lot of people walk thru the doors of Albanese. So they say, you have everything to worry about. Do not point out, So many good people point out for stupid shyt, they are not playing, it dont matter if your the best worker, if you point out, you are gone!. All the rules in the handbook apply, even if you fall asleep standing up.

There is a no tolerance policy for that even if you have no points. It dont matter what type of work ethic you have break any of the rules, you are gone. There is some leeway for those, that's when the favorites come into play. If you go up against a person with disabilities and your just a regular joe off the street who works harder and knows more than the disability person, the disability person stays and your out of a job.

Unfortunately I loved my job at one point, but with all the favoritism and being treated like a second class citizen, I gotten tired of eating shyt the last four months. There was noting I could of said or done because of a little worm and you know who you are took my job away. The worst part about it, I stuck up for the worm too. Yes, in the food industry, there are obviously a lot of rules to ensure the safety of our people, product and customers.

Yes, we have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind — including people with disabilities. You said that you loved your job at one point, but it sounds like something went wrong somewhere.

Worked there for 1. Not enough pay for the work involved. Company is not run very well. Pay rate was determined by how much you knew how to do in every area of the plant.

You are forced to use your vacation days if you have no sick days. They basically take your vacation from you. Some employees who are company people will throw you under the bus if given a chance. No chance of unionizing in this place. Did all asked but as a former union representative they got rid of me without a explanation. The sisters only listen to their drinking buddies and are not in touch with what is going on!!

If you want to actually help and be apart of the solution you don't have a chance if you are not part of the management social society. Join the click or your out! Yes 1 No 1. Employers employ groups of people who form relationships, this happens in employment, schools, communities, social groups etc… People make friendships, this is not unusual.

A lot of people have made lasting friendships working here. That being said, we keep it professional and I see many people go out of their way to make sure others always feel included. Management is present and approachable. Always eager to meet new people and listen to ideas. Sorry you felt otherwise. This is not a good place for minorities to work. Delt with a lot of racism in the work place. Constantly reported racial slurs to HR and wrote written statements nothing ever happened.

Alot of unappreciated hard work goes into this job. Benefits and pay. All money is not good money. Yes 3 No 1. Sorry to read your review. I can tell you that leadership and HR care deeply about our employees and always working toward improvement.

They started in and though their candies encompass chocolate covered nuts, nut mixes and chocolates. But in the past ten years, Albanese has become known for their extensive line of gummis that not only come in a wide variety of flavors, but also in some innovative shapes. The pieces are quite large, about the size of tree frogs I was familiar with seeing in Northern California. One lived in the shower of a house I shared in Arcata Bay bottoms. The gummis weigh about a half an ounce each. My first little buddy is the blue and orange one.
