Located in picturesque Goomburra Valley near Allora in Queensland, Australia, the business founders are Neil and Estelle Oloman. Neil is a Mechanical Engineer and qualified Toolmaker and Fitter. He served his apprenticeship at the Australian Government Small Arms Factory in Lithgow, NSW, between 1960-65. After working for some time in the SAF tool room he joined the Department of Defence Second Army Quality Assurance Unit, Lithgow Detachment.
Some defence projects undertaken by Neil Oloman;
- For 5 years he headed the trials and investigations section at 2AQAU Lithgow Detachment.
- Heavily involved in analysis of weapons performance, accuracy and endurance from an engineering standpoint.
- Involved in analysis of wear characteristics of M113A Armoured Personnel Carrier Tracks.
- Involved with testing of Grenade Launchers and 66mm Rocket Launcher Components.
Subsequently he was involved in development, testing and quality assurance of weapons
and associated equipment, thus gaining significant expertise in this area of precision
engineering technology.
Wellbrook currently employs 9 staff, and can offer a complete service, from design and prototyping through to production and assembly.
The business over the last decades has integrated further expertise, including Neil
and Estelle's sons, Tony and Leigh. All employees are highly skilled, with on-going
training, and system improvement a key part of the business on a day to day basis.
Clearly they are keen to have the business grow in the direction that often sees them undertaking a variety of interesting engineering projects.
